Basic OSHC covers visits to the doctor, some hospital treatment, limited pharmaceuticals, ambulance cover and access to private hospitals.
Dental, optical and physiotherapy treatments are not covered by basic OSHC but are available as ‘extras’ from some OSHC providers as part of more comprehensive OSHC cover.

Insurance companies are not allowed to cover some costs under OSHC policies for international students including; visiting a dentist, most dental examinations, glasses, contact lenses and other visits to the optometrist.

General practitioners (GP) are doctors who have completed training in general practice and have broad knowledge and skills to treat health issues Because your GP gets to know you and your community, they can provide care that is suitable just for you.
